EN 1.4307 / AISI 304L Stainless Steel Bar

EN 1.4307 (widely recognized as AISI 304L or X2CrNi19-11) is an austenitic stainless steel bar featuring an ultra-low carbon content (≤0.030%). This lower carbon level effectively prevents chromium carbide precipitation during welding, providing superior resistance to intergranular corrosion without requiring post-weld heat treatment.

At Sunningsteel, we supply premium-grade EN 1.4307 stainless steel bars in various shapes, finishes, and precision tolerances, fully certified to European standards for global industrial applications.

Industrial Applications

  • Chemical & Petrochemical: Pressure vessels, piping systems, and flange components.
  • Food & Beverage Processing: Dairy equipment, brewing tanks, and conveyor systems where hygiene and weldability are critical.
  • Marine & Architecture: Fasteners, handrails, and decorative hardware exposed to corrosive, moist environments.
  • Mechanical Engineering: Precision shafts, pump spindles, and heavy-duty fasteners.

While standard EN 1.4301 (AISI 304) is a versatile general-purpose stainless steel, it contains up to 0.07% carbon. When subjected to welding or high-temperature fabrication, 304 can suffer from carbide precipitation, leading to intergranular corrosion.

EN 1.4307 (304L) solves this problem with its strictly controlled low carbon limit (≤ 0.030%). It guarantees long-term structural integrity and corrosion resistance in welded assemblies, making it the preferred choice for chemical tanks, food processing equipment, and pharmaceutical machinery.

Q1: What is the equivalent standard for EN 1.4307?

A: EN 1.4307 is directly equivalent to AISI 304L (ASTM A276 / A479), UNS S30403, and JIS SUS 304L.

Q2: Do you provide mill test certificates (MTC)?

A: Yes, all our EN 1.4307 stainless steel bars are delivered with an EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate detailing the exact chemical composition and mechanical test results.

Q3: Can you supply cut-to-length bars?

A: Absolutely. We offer precise cutting services to match your exact project specifications, minimizing your on-site processing time and material waste.
