In October, the price of AISI304 stainless steel pipe fluctuated and fell. Time to purchase and ship from warehouses was limited, and shipment performance throughout the month was generally good. Apparent domestic consumption of stainless steel in October was estimated to be 2.95 million tons, down 62,000 tons year-on-year. down 2% and up 30,000 tonnes year-on-year, up 1%. Apparent consumption from January to October 2023 was 27.06 million tonnes, up 2.79 million tonnes over the same period last year, or by 11%.
Stainless steel prices continued to decline in November, and the lower end of the market entered the off-season for seasonal consumption.
